Crocheted shoelaces, nautical towline and knit cotton contributions from the Smith College community. Using a Sol Lewitt-like set of count-stich instructions, participants made abstract shapes which where then crocheted into chains of shapes and imbedded into the fabric of the installation.

Commissioned by the Smith College Museum of Art for its collection in celebration of long time staff member Ann Johnson’s retirement, the work was presented by the museum as a solo exhibition in Northampton, MA upon the completion of its installation.
